Lids has stepped up to the plate in big time fashion, by donating all of the uniforms and caps needed for the Jr. RBI program. In addition, Lids has donated new bases, homeplates, fence paint, cleaning supplies, a base liner, and a work party of close to 100 Lids employees and friends to clean up Forest Manor Park, and get the ball diamonds ready for opening day on May 5.
In thanks for this huge donation, Play Ball Indiana is naming the complex the “Lids Sports Complex.” A special sign is being designed, and will be placed on the concession building at the Park in time for opening day.
Over 20 Jr. RBI teams (ages 5-12) will call the Lids Sports Complex home this season. Jr. RBI is a new program sponsored by Major League Baseball, and this is the second season of Jr. RBI baseball in Indianapolis
The Jr. RBI baseball and softball program is also being sponsored through a grant of the Summer Youth Program Fund, a collaborative effort of Lilly Endowment, the Nina Mason Pulliam Trust and the Indianapolis Foundation.
