CHICAGO — The Indianapolis RBI 12u team will compete in the 2016 Metropolitan Junior Baseball League Inner City Classic July 19-22, in Chicago. The tournament is hosted by the Metropolitan Junior Baseball League, a non-profit organization with a goal to revive baseball in inner cities around the country.
In 1991, MJBL launched its Inner City Classic in Columbia, SC. It was designed to provide urban youth the opportunity to travel to other cities, compete in the game of baseball and to be exposed to diverse cultures. It has since grown to become a national network with teams throughout the United States and the Caribbean.
The 2016 event is the first for Indy RBI, with its entrant slated to compete in round-robin pool play against the Roosemore Red Sox and the Rosemoor Chicago Hitters. The two teams with the best records will square off for the tournament championship July 22.
